分類に関するメモ：Segi (1951) は，兵庫県明石からPolysiphonia fruticulosaを報告し，ハリマイトグサと名付けました。新日本海藻誌及び日本産海藻目録には掲載されておらず，見落とされてきた可能性があります。Polysiphonia fruticulosaは，その後Boergeseniella属に移されましたが，Díaz-Tapia et al. (2017) は，Vertebrata属を再評価し，B. fruticulosaをVertebrata属の所属としました。
