紅藻植物門（Phylum Rhodophyta），真正紅藻亜門（Subphylum Eurhodophytina），真正紅藻綱（Class Florideophyceae），マサゴシバリ亜綱（Subclass Rhodymeniophycidae），スギノリ目（Order Gigartinales），ミリン科（Family Solieriaceae），キリンサイ属（Genus Eucheuma）

Syntype localities: 宮古島，那覇

Type specimen: SAP 19768 又は19769（北海道大学大学院理学研究科植物標本庫）

分類に関するメモ：キリンサイ（Eucheuma denticulatum）の品種です。Doty (1988) はE. muricatumをE. denticulatumの異名同種（シノニム）としました。E. muricatumの品種として記載された f. incrssataとE. denticulatumとの組み合わせは行われていません。
