| 分類に関するメモ：Entwisle et al. (2009) は，Batrachospermum virgatodecaisneanumをカワモズク属（Batrachospermum）からクマノカワモズク属（Kumanoa）に移しました。
原記載（Sirodot 1884）における本種の種形容語（種小名）の綴りは "virgato-decaisneanum" で，日本の文献でも "B. virgato-decaisneanum" として用いられてきましたが，Entwisle & Foard (1999, 2007), Entwisle et al. (2009) は "virgatodecaisneanum" 及び "virgatodecaisneana" としてハイフンを削除しています。"virgatus" と "decaisneanum" はそれぞれ形容詞として用いられ（注），"virgatodecaisneanum" は合成語として作られていると考えられます。国際藻類・菌類・植物命名規約（ICN）深圳規約（2018）60.11条によると，合成語のハイフンの使用は訂正されるべき誤りとして扱われるため，ハイフンは削除するのが適当と考えられます。 注．植物学者ドケーヌ（Joseph Decaisne）に因んで命名された "decaisneanum" が名詞と形容詞のどちらなのか，判断に迷いましたが，連結母音が "o" であることと，語尾が "anum" あるいは "ana" であることから，形容詞と判断しました（ICN 60.8 (c), 60.10 (b)）。 「ニシノカワモズク」の「ニシ」の意味について，著者は「西」だとばかり思っていたのですが，Kumano (1982) は，B. virgatodecaisneanum（現 K. virgatodecaisneana）がオオタニシ（Cipangopaludina japonica）の殻の上に着生していることを報じており，タニシ（田螺）に着生していたことから「ニシノ（螺の）」と命名されたと考えられます（＊）。 ＊Y.S.氏からご教授頂きました。深く感謝申し上げます（2022年3月20日）。 |
