スカラレ・エンゼル（Pterophyllum scalare），アルタム・エンゼル（P. altum）などを基に，たくさんの品種が作られており，大きさ，外形，色などが品種によって様々です。ここで紹介している個体の原種がどの種かは分かりませんでした。
