生鮮市場で購入したものです。近縁種のマルアオメエソ（Chlorophthalmus borealis）と合わせて「メヒカリ（目光）」と呼ばれています。光を当てると反射して眼が黄緑色に見えます。2種の区別は容易ではないそうです。ここでは眼が大きいことからアオメエソとしました。
