Perestenko (1996) は，本種をAntithamnionella属からIrtugovia属に移しましたが，Wollaston & Womersley (1998) はこれを認めず，以後の文献でも認められていません。rbcL遺伝子を用いた分子系統解析においても， A. spirographidisはAntithamnionella属に含まれます。
