千葉県銚子半島で採集したマキイギス（Ceramium aduncum）です。四分胞子嚢を偏生し，良く発達した四分胞子嚢が皮層から裸出するのが特徴です。当初はキヌイトイギス（C. diaphanum）と同定していたのですが，キヌイトイギスは，四分胞子嚢が完全に裸出せず，一部が皮層に埋まることが特徴とされていることから，同定を改めました。本種のrbcL遺伝子の塩基配列は，韓国産のキヌイトイギス（C. tenuissimum 現C. diaphanum）と近似していましたが，cox1遺伝子は，ノースカロライナ産のC. diaphanumとは系統的に離れていました（Suzuki & Terada 2025)。また，狭義のCeramium属のクレードには含まれず，イギス科の中で属の所属が不明であることも示唆されました。キヌイトイギスとの関係や，属の所属について分類学的検討が必要と考えられます。
